Krasnokutskiy Dendropark
Krasnokutskiy Dendropark is rightly considered as one of the best natural reserves in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. It was found on the site of former Petropavlovsk men`s monastery, which existed for almost 100 years before was closed by Catherine`s the Great edict, and the monastery lands were given to Nazar Karazin.
His sons, Ivan and Vasiliy are known as founders of the park. They brought more than 600 of different plant species, most of which were brought to Ukraine first time: Maple tree, Acacia tree, Sycamore tree, Sophora and many others. Sprouts were brought from all over the world: China, Japan, North and South America, European countries.
Dendropark was badly damaged by World War II, and now park territory has about 350 species of flora and about 30 species of fauna. People, who are fond of botany, can feel special atmosphere of the place and its inhabitants, exclusive microclimate that is perfect for pickiest trees and bushes.
Except natural value, park also has historical value – there is a long labyrinth of caves under it. If you are interested in nature or history, visiting this place will bring you true delight!
